[  Disrupting the Status Quo: Curatorial Agency in Rhode Island  ]

The Providence Biennial has begun working with an exciting mix of contemporary art curators across the state of Rhode Island and nearby SouthCoast of Massachusetts to form a vital, first-time ever, peer-to-peer coalition of changemakers.

The initiative signals the end of our former isolating 'status quo,' or acting in siloed ways, encouraging us instead to communicate regularly and openly with one another, as we recognize and advocate for what defines our profession today.

By investigating various approaches to our practice—collectively and in diversely accessible public-facing ways—we will come to present what curatorial agency means, and offers, distinctively in our region.

The next Providence Biennial event, responding to the encouraging direction in building curatorial collaboration, will emerge in 2025. Please stop back here for more information.
